Giovanni Benedetto Conforti    1916-2021

Giovanni's  parents Giroloma (Palermo, Sicilia) and Eugenio Conforti,  (Reggio Calabria) arrived from Italy to raise their family.     One of  11 children,  Giovanni was raised in Brooklyn, NY, where he raised his own family.     He has four children,  Barbara, Giroloma, Mary, and Michael.  A  patriarch to his own large family, with 8 grandchildren,  11 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild with another on the way this month.

He loved nothing more than  being with his family, and as a  great chef,  preparing  wonderful meals for  everyone. In fact many of the neighbors came  by his  house regularly gently asking for a meal form this master  chef.

He was a longshoreman at various New York City waterfronts  for nearly 40 year, and was fond of sharing  stories of "life on the waterfront".

He touched the lives of  many people from all walks of life, from family, to friends to  chefs, even  Edgar Mitchell,  the astronaut who walked on the moon.     His was a life was filled with riches, and  challenges, all of which he handled with dignity, love and  an attitude that was beyond acceptance,

All who met him  recognized his love of Italy, the Italian culture, food,  language, and dialects,  of which he  spoke, Siciliano,  Napolitano and Italiano.    He made numerous trips to  Italy, especially loving his time  with family in Palermo.

He will be  missed by all of who knew him and we will  miss his stories,  many of which had a tinge of being  off color.

We love you and know you will be happy being reunited with your brothers and sisters.
