Condolence From: Steve Delavan Sr.
Condolence: To be honest.I have never meet a better chef... he was a chef.. creative and brilliant.. he saw what the plate was. Before it was even cooked. In fond .remembrance. A dish called veal alla gioconda..tender veal dipped in melted cheese lightly breaded and pan fried. Topped with with a light shallot Demi glacé. Which Steve did perfect. Tony safonte ... and Chris balzano.. are may be the only two who remember. He knew flavor..quality...price.. and appreciation of what makes us happy. Steve was the best at that. A chef .. who knew.. Godspeed Steve... and thank you!

Condolence From: Maria Alaimo
Condolence: Stefano is the type of person you meet and you immediately feel close.. Although I wasn’t able to meet him until I moved to the east around 27 years old., he took time out to talk whenever he saw me even when he didn’t have time. He made me feel like I was his sibling not his cousin. His love for the family and his faith radiated from his heart constantly. I remember the times he would pick me up from Penn station when I arrived in NY to visit scared and alone.I remember him always cooking and teaching me how to cook especially chicken marsala.. iI remember feeling like a princess eatting at his restaurant where meals took hours and the food was out of this world. I remember his generosity. I remember how proud my Aunt Vincenzina and Uncle Michelangelo were of him . I remember the love he shared with his brother Angelo and his sister Maria as we ate around the table with the spirit of Carmelo. I will always remember how hard he worked to fulfill the American dream and the places he took me including the Twin Towers. I could go on forever - there is much I have forgotten but I will always remember how he made me feel- which was full of unconditional love. We shared the Alaimo blood and therefore will always be family.

Condolence From: Antonio Lo Brutto
Condolence: Our condolences to the Alaimo family for your loss. My memory of Steve is behind the kitchen, dressed in white with his hat at his restaurant on 86th street, La Giaconda. He allowed me to work there when I was a teen. May you rest in peace

Apologies for not being able to attend in person
