Flordeliza S. Legaspi
May 17, 1945 – April 3, 2022
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Celebrated 76 years on this earth.
Affectionately known as “Lizzie”, she was born in Manila, the youngest of five children and only daughter of Apolinar and Purificacion Sotelo.
After graduating from university, she initially worked for W.R. Grace as a secretary and where she eventually met her husband, Jess. When they first came the United States, they lived in Queens but then decided to permanently reside in Staten Island, NY since 1979. She became a property insurance underwriter in the 1980s and retired in 2016.
She led a very active and fulfilling life. She was a member of the Santo Niño prayer group, the Staten Island Philippine-American Group (SIPAG), and various other Filipino cultural groups which kept her busy on the weekends. During the week she was career driven but always made time for family. A selfless wife and mother, no matter how tired she was from the rigors and stress of the workday, she was always there for her family - preparing dinner every night, helping her kids with school projects and homework, and anything else they needed of her.
Her favorite past times were sewing, taking care of her indoor plants, decorating her home, traveling, singing karaoke, entertaining, and most of all, cooking. She loved to host and feed everyone, especially her family.
She leaves behind her loving family: her husband of 49 years, Jess; her daughter Johanna & son-in-law Bill; her son Francis & daughter-in-law Kerri and granddaughter Elizabeth Anne, and most especially her favorite dog – Dexter, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
To pay respect to the Lizzie and her family, viewing will be on Sat. April 9 and Sun. April 10 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Scarpaci Funeral Home 6389 Amboy Rd. SI, NY 10309
