Obituary for James Hodgens

In loving Memory of James Hodgens

November 28, 1966 - February 15, 2023

Some people only walk this earth for a short time, but make a lasting impact on many lives. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. Last week, James (Jimmy) Hodgens rejoined his heavenly family and gained his wings.

Jimmy was born and raised in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY. First born child to Timothy and Julia Hodgens, oldest of four children. He attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School, where he met his future wife, Edith Farrugia. Jimmy was the life of the party, always happy to help people and make them smile. He knew how to have a good time and live his life. He played hard but worked harder. He’s held a job since he’s 14 yrs old, always picked up jobs to save money or reach a goal. As an adult, he’d work 7 days a week most of the time. He’d finish his 9-5 then pick up shifts at his family’s bar, where he met many friends that became family. He was a true family man; family was everything to him. Everyone knew and loved JImmy.

Jimmy is survived and deeply missed by his partner in life, his loving wife Edith Hodgens (Farrugia) and their loving children Nicole Grace Hodgens, her fiance George Clark, Timothy James Hodgens and his fiance Alexandra Giuliano. His memory will be forever cherished by his parents Timothy and Julie Hodgens. Forever loved and greatly missed by his siblings Todd and Michele Hodgens, Tara Hodgens, Tracey and Christopher Karr, Roberta (Farrugia) and Jody Lichtman, Linda (predeceased) and Sam Kusuma and their families. Loved and remembered by his many nieces and nephews, Christopher Hodgens and his fiance Tabitha Schnepf, Brennan and Riley Karr, Sabrina and Anthony Leto, Carla and Frank Tramuta, Frank and Colleen Sangiorgio, Christina Toledo, Jennifer and John Wood, Jean Marie Kusuma, Brian and Erika Kusuma. He had many grand-nieces and nephews Giana, Araya, Sydney, Giuliana, Adelina, Valentina, Antonia, Jake, Thalia, Dakota, Noah, Johnny, Alana, Kayla, Valentino, JJ, Jesse, Hailey and Emery He will be cherished by his aunts and uncle and their families He is survived by many cousins, extended family and great friends who all send their love.

There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to not only have known and loved Jimmy but to our family and friends who were there for us during this very difficult and emotional time.
