Obituary for Salvatore Prestia

Background History: Salvatore Prestia

Salvatore was born to an immigrant Italian family. His parents Mary and Ernesto were originally from Sicily, Italy and settled in Brooklyn where they raised Sal along with his brother Anthony and sister Joanne.

Salvatore never had a family of his own, but enjoyed the company of his cousins, nieces and nephews, plus all the families’ pets. Sal also loved spending time with his friends; friends from the neighborhood, his NYC bus family (work) friends, and his “dancing” friends. He enjoyed life and never missed a beat when it came to eating, drinking and dancing with friends and family. He loved going to the movies and two of his favorite past times were going to the beach and riding his motorcycle.

Salvatore didn’t have much in life, nor was it an easy life. Sometimes life can be so unfair. But he was always grateful for what he did have. Sal had the greatest smile, the tightest hug and the biggest heart. He also had a great sense of humor, always made people laugh. He was humble and kind. He was a good man.

I believe that is what people will remember most about Sal, that he was a sweet, caring and kind soul, with a great big heart. He will be missed. You were loved Sal. God speed to you.
