Obituary for
Karen A Oliva
It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that Karen A. Oliva of Staten Island N.Y. passed away
on April 14, 2023, after a long illness.
Karen was born on February 13, 1972, in Brooklyn N.Y. She graduated from John Dewey High School in
1990 and then attended the College of Staten Island. Karen received her bachelor’s degree in 1994 and
her master’s degree in 1996, both in education.
Karens passion for teaching became apparent from a young age. She was elated when she passed the
licensing test for teaching and obtained her dream job when she became a teacher in 1996.
Karens affiliation with the staff and students of P.S.4 meant the world to her. Karen cared deeply for her
entire school family as well as the countless students she taught.
She cherished the many friends that she made throughout her life. Their friendship, devotion, and caring
for one another was truly amazing.
Karen shared a special relationship with her Aunt Rosemary, and many cousins.
Above all, Karen cherished her family. She married the love of her life Vito in 1996 and together had
three amazing children, who were her whole world.
Karen is survived by her loving husband Vito, daughter Brianna, sons Nicholas and Joseph, her parents
Patrick and Gail Morrongiello, and her younger brother Michael.
Karen was pre-deceased by her grandparents Salvatore and Isadora Morrongiello, and William and
Sarah Paul, her mother-in-law Francesca Oliva, her close cousin Lauren, and Uncle Neil.
