Obituary for
Victor Cervone
Victor Cervone, 87, of Brooklyn, N.Y. passed away at Clove Lakes Health Care in Staten Island, N.Y. surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 30, 2017. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Katerina and Corrado Cervone, brother of Rose Petri, Paul Cervone, and Lee Laterza, where he lived most of his life and in the latter part in Staten Island. Victor is survived by his daughter Laura Auriti, Michael Porta, son James Cervone, daughter-in-law Norma Cervone, , his grandchildren Kristen Cervone, James Patrick Cervone, Nicole Auriti, Francesca Auriti, Angela Auriti, step-granddaughter Danielle Sternberg, and many loving extended family members and friends. In passing, he was preceded by his wife, Ann Cervone and his son Victor Nicolas Cervone.
In life, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle, and friend to all. To most, he was known as “The Silver Fox!” He served in the U.S. Army as a cook, stationed at Fort Dix, in New Jersey, during the Korean War. After his military stint, he worked at Pepe’s Paints on New Utrecht Avenue in Brooklyn, and then for the Metropolitan Transit Authority as a Conductor/Trackman, where after 25 years he retired. During his lifetime, Victor enjoyed reading and watching horror stories and all types of mystery books and movies (especially British Mysteries), playing cards, bowling, and taking frequent trips to Atlantic City with his wife, family members and friends. He always managed to make everyone laugh with his sarcastic sense of humor.
If wealth was based purely on the number of people who knew Victor Cervone or whose lives were touched by him instead of today’s standards: an expensive automobile, a mansion or large sums of money, then Victor Cervone was one of the wealthiest men in the world.
A special thank you to the staff at Clove Lakes Health Care in Staten Island for their loving care and support. Also, thank you to Scarpaci Funeral Home for all of the arrangements. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Scarpaci Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 3. Funeral Services for Victor will be at Our Lady Star of the Sea on Wednesday, October 4 at 10:00 AM. Victor will be laid to rest along side his wife at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island, N.Y.
