Obituary for Gaetano Caruso

Beloved father , husband, grandfather , friend
Gaetano (Tommy) Caruso

Tommy was a native of Sicily, came to the States by boat from Italy at the age of 17 and settled in Brooklyn where he completed school, learned a skilled trade and joined the Painter’s union.

A few years later he met his wife of nearly 50 years Maria. Together they started a successful painting and contracting business in New York City.

A resident of Staten Island for over 40 years,
Survived by his wife Maria, his four children, Nellie, John, Lenny, And Antonina, daughters in law Maria and Stefany, son in law Tom, four grandchildren Gabriela, Victoria, Angelina, And Cristiano, his siblings Giuseppe, Chris, And Giovanna.

Tommy was a man loved by many, always dapper and polite, a kind soul.
He fought a long hard fight with Parkinson’s / Alzheimer’s Dementia till the very end and was surrounded by his family who he loved very much.

In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to the Alzheimer’s foundation in our fathers name.
