Obituary for
Russel Anthony Tedesco
In Loving Memory of Russel Anthony Tedesco
Russel Anthony Tedesco, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2023 at the age of 72. Russel was born November 27, 1950 to Mary and Tony in Brooklyn, New York.
Russel graduated from James Madison High School in Brooklyn. He lived most of his adult life in Staten Island, where he embarked on a career as the world’s best bus driver for the MTA, Castleton Bus Depot. He was passionate about his time working for the MTA and created many lasting friendships and memories there.
For those who knew him best, Russel was a kind and generous soul. His sense of humor and passion for life made a memorable experience for both friends and strangers alike as they encountered him along the way. He was far from perfect, but he will be remembered as the world’s best dad to his children, and a greatly missed friend to many others.
Russel was passionate about saltwater fishing. From the coasts of Cape Cod to the deep seas of Cabo San Lucas Mexico, he was known as a master fisherman. Some of his deepest connections in life came from relationships and memories he created out on the water.
Russel is survived by his loving children, Alicia, Michael, and Matthew, his adoring step-daughters Gina, Andrea, and Maria, and his many cherished grandchildren- Mariah, Aviana, Christian, Olivia, Marilyn, Joseph, William, Eva, Adele, Jackson, Jameson, and Henry. He was honored God Father to Ava Riccardi. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Tedesco (Divola), brother Richie Tedesco, and father, Anthony Tedesco.
A memorial service honoring Russel Anthony Tedesco's life will be held at Scarpaci Funeral Home in Staten Island on Friday, September 22nd at 6pm with a viewing from 4-7pm. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the ASPCA or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, two causes close to Russel's heart.
We invite you to share your memories and stories of Russel as we come together to celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love, and a life that touched so many. Rest in Peace Dad, keep doing the best you can.
