Obituary for Raymond J. Mannarino

Raymond J. Mannarino passed away on October 13, 2023 at Staten Island University Hospital on Staten Island, NY after a short illness. He was surrounded in love with his wife Rose and family at his side.

Raymond was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 9, 1946 to parents Joseph and Caroline. He was the older brother of Dennis and Loretta. He graduated from Samuel J. Tilden High School in Brooklyn, NY and served two years in the US Navy on the USS Fort Snelling.

He was a lifelong member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, working mostly in Locals 560, 641 and 707 across New York City.

In the mid 1970’s, Raymond and Rose moved from Brooklyn to Staten Island to start a family and raise their four boys Ray, Joseph, John and Christopher. Raymond and Rose recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with a trip to Nashville, TN.

Raymond was an avid fisherman and loved going on his boat “Lucky Strike” with his sons, grandchildren, brother and close friends. He also enjoyed going on cruises and vacations with his family, attending boat shows, watching horse racing and documentaries about US history, and liked movie and TV comedies. He was a family man who cherished time at home with his wife and family. He had an incredible sense of humor and could always make people laugh. He was the life of the party when with family and friends. His favorite time of year was the annual Christmas Eve seafood feast that would take place at home with his family.

Raymond is survived by his wife Rose and four sons Ray, Joseph, John and Christopher, daughters in-law Kristin, Amy and Nicole Mannarino, brother Dennis and sister in-law Miriam and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is the grandfather or “ Bee-Pop” to eight grandchildren including Gabrielle, Nicholas, Ava, Daniel, Joseph, Julianna, Alyssa, and Jonathan. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Caroline and sister Loretta.

Raymond’s wake will be held on Sunday, October 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Scarpaci Funeral Home located at 6389 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY. A funeral mass is scheduled for October 16 at Saint Thomas Apostle Church at 6097 Amboy Road with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, also in Staten Island.
