Obituary for Gerard J. Marini

Gerard John (Jerry) Marini a former New York City Police detective passed away on Tuesday July 12,2022 at his home in Great Kills. Jerry worked in Brooklyn and then retired from The Staten Island Crimes against Property Squad in 1984.

Born in Brooklyn, NY son of Arthur and Inez Marini, grew up in Forest Hills Queens . After graduating from
Forest Hills High School , Jerry joined the United States Coastguard. After completing his Military service, he went on to earn his degree from the New York Institute of Technology. He met and married Patricia (Ryan) in 1963, and settled in Staten Island.

He joined the New York City Police Department in 1964 and during his 21 years as an officer he worked in various units in Brooklyn and then Staten Island where he retired. After retirement he went on to work for 15 years for local 550 at Drake’s bakeries with delivery routes in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Jerry enjoyed telling his life stories. He had a story for every aspect of his life . You would always find a crowd around him listening to another great story. He was an avid sports fan. He would watch Yankee classics on a daily basis and enjoyed watching Sunday football. He was his children and grandchildren’s number one supporter, and could be found at every one of their sporting events. He loved fishing, and spent much time out on the water always looking for the big catch . Jerry was a beloved friend who enjoyed going to the gym and socializing with friends from all over.

He was predeceased by his parents, and step Mother Dorothea Marini.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 59 years Patricia , his sons and daughter in laws, Gerard & Lisa , Gregory & Tina , Christopher & Rita, his daughter and son in law , Carrie & Donald Mulham , and his 6 Grandchildren, Donnie, Taylor & Olivia Mulham. Ryan & Madison Marini and Ava Marini . Also survived by his Loving brother Arthur A. Marini and sister Camille Racioppo , as well as several nieces,nephews and cousins.
