Reflections from his sister nancy
How do I summarize the 70 year relationship I had with my Big Brother. As I read through everyone's tributes to him, extolling his many attributes
I go numb at the thought. It is impossible so I will just try to add to the stories of his ability and desire to come up to the plate. As children we fought over who would get to watch the one and only 17 inch TV every family had. He wanted to watch whatever sport was on and I wanted Million Dollar Movie, guess who always won the battle with my mother as referee, yep, my brother. Later in life he invited me and Steve to Yankee games and gave me tickets for me and my friends there after. He was very generous.
As young adults we were happy when we were both dating at the same time (not often) so we could double date and do things together.
That pattern stayed with us through out our married years. We even married cousins and used the same wedding hall. Our Families went skiing, camping, fishing. shooting, trips to Disney, Italy etc...
Like any self respecting Italian family we just didn't move we migrated together, all spear-headed by brother Bob.
From Brooklyn to Staten Island to New Jersey and for a while Bob, Nancy and Val had homes in Florida. We were invited to his Florida home this coming February.
When a crisis happened he was always there for me, September 11th being the biggest and the worst. He came with me to see lawyers, go to conferences and even to ground zero, He made sure for years to come that me and Sabrina were alright. I am sure when he stands before god he will say come on in you are welcome and my late husband Steve will be there to give him a great big hug
Will miss you very much
Love Nancy
